In 1980, I was in my 4th year of pastoring a church in Corpus Christi, Texas. A church in Dallas reached out to me about interviewing for the Pastor Vacancy. As I was flying out of Corpus, I looked down and saw the building and grounds of the church that I was presently pastoring. On the short flight to Dallas, I thought wouldn’t it be nice if 33,000 feet up in the air we could see where God would take us and where he wanted us to be. I have learned from that experience that God does not operate like that.
GOD OPERATES THOUGH HOPE! The root word for HOPE, goes back to ancient nautical term that meant, “point of destination.” This means your Hope is what you are navigating toward. This is what Paul writes about, “For if you already have something, you don’t need to hope for it.” (Romans 8:24) We have a point of destination. Walking with Jesus until HE takes us home is our HOPE.
This month our theme is “Invitation to Hope!: Last Sunday it was, THE INVITATION OF HOPE! Today, Palm Sunday and Good Friday Service it is, THE HOPE OF THE CROSS.” Next Sunday on Resurrection Sunday, it is “HOPE IS HERE.” In our Community, there are numerous people looking for HOPE. They are discouraged, depressed and devastated. They are looking for a point of direction.
How can we help in pointing them to the Direction of HOPE?
• INVITE YOUR ONE! Invite them to our Easter Worship Service and Lunch.
• Invite them to our Good Friday Service this Friday at 5:00 p.m.
• Hand out 15 Country Fellowship Church Easter Tracts:
• GO PRAY for 5 homes in your neighborhood through our “Pray & Go Outreach.”
