Rejoicing! Praying! Thanking! or Whining and Complaining!
“In everything you do, stay away from complaining….” Philippians 2:15
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit.” I Thessalonians 5:16-19
Thanksgiving this past week has reminded us that it is all about Thanking God and Not Whining and Complaining. Notice in the 1 Thessalonians text it says if we are not praying, rejoicing, and thanking God then we will quench the Holy Spirit.” That is a powerful admonishment. If we do not do the above then we will quench that spirit. Complaining can become a terrible habit. When it takes hold of us then we are lessoning the power of God in our lives. Complaining is contagious and dampers the hope in our lives and also affect those around us. I think we live in a day where complaining and griping are the norm. We have a lost world surrounding us and we need to put a positive spin on life. In life there are four kinds of complainers.
- The Whiner- The person who rises to whine instead of rising to shine. Their favorite phrase is, “It is just not fair.”
- The Martyr- They use this statement: “No one appreciates me.”
- The Cynic- That person is always sarcastic.
- The Perfectionist- Nothing is good enough. They ask, “Is that the best you can do.?”
At the end of the day, we must evaluate ourselves. We must ask ourselves, “How much complaining, and griping did we do today? Also ask ourselves,” How much did I pray today? How much did I rejoice in the Lord today? How many times did I encourage someone today? Pastor Charles/972-983-7968/ pastorcountryfellowship@ gmail.com
