Dear Country Fellowship Church Family,

I have been thinking about the Attitude of Gratitude! The Apostle Paul put it very plain when he wrote to the Thessalonica Church in 2 Thessalonians 5:16-19: “Always be joyful. 17Never stop praying. 18Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 19Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.”

He said at all times that we should be “always be joyful;” “never stop praying;” “always be thankful in all circumstances.” He said if we don’t do the above then we will stifle or quench the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is so essential in our living day after day. The Holy Spirit is our empowerment. The Covid-19 Crisis is a difficult time for our world. It is a hard one to understand. Covid-19 hits us physically; financially and emotionally. Yet the Corona Virus Crisis does not need to hit us spiritually. One of the most important things that we can do is to is practice the “Attitude of Gratitude.” Three things about that “Attitude of Gratitude”: Gratitude is a Choice. Gratitude is not emotional. We just can’t choose it during the good times, but we must choose it when life has us upside down. Gratitude is Good for Your Soul.

When our daughter, Andrea went off to Baylor, Nancy & I bought her a new car. It was a demonstrator and only had 3000 miles on it. It was a Pontiac Grand Am. I can still see it. It was red with a moon roof. (The car should have been yellow in color) We did a smart thing though when I purchased it. We paid for a 50,000-mile warranty. If something went wrong, we just had to pay 75.00. for each incident. Let me list all that went wrong with the car. The alternator had to be replaced twice. The air-conditioner went out. The transmission went out. The short block on the engine went out. Every time a repair would come up, I would say, “We are sure glad that we bought that warranty.” THE CHOICE OF GRATITUDE IS A WARRANTY THAT WILL HELP US ACCEPT WHATEVER COMES TO US IN LIFE.

You see gratefulness will affect every area of our lives for the better. Ingratitude Shrivels Your Soul. Ingratitude will weaken your faith and stunt your spiritual growth. How can you tell if you are ungrateful? Ask yourself, “How often do I complain?” “Do you feel like you have earned everything in life? Do you say, “I wished I would had…” or “I’m so glad for…?” “Count your blessings, and you’ll feel blessed.” “I’m to Blessed to be Distressed.” We have more to Shout about than to Pout about.” Right?

40 Days of Prayer!
Over the last several days, several local pastors have sensed God calling His people to prayer during this current worldwide pandemic. We feel that this calling is not just for a few but for many. They have created a schedule over the next several weeks that enables churches to get involved in this city-wide prayer effort. It will last for 40 days, beginning this Sunday, March 29th and run until Thursday May 7th, which is the National Day of Prayer. The time that I have chosen for Country Fellowship Church is @ 7:00 p.m. I hope you will pray some time during that hour. Prayer and praying for our Nation is the most powerful thing we can do. P.S. There may be a few errors in this newsletter. I did not get it proofed. The good thing is that if you like finding mistakes then you will not be disappointed. LOL! Charles
