Finishing Well!  Let’s Not Forget!

The other day I was thinking about the “motto” that we used when we started back in 2018. The motto or theme was, “Finish well.”  & “Come Back to Our Roots!” We, wanted to finish well before the Lord takes us to Heaven. I love watching the Minute with Maxwell email video that is sent to me every day.  John Maxwell is an incredible teacher to leaders.  Recently, he shared a video clip on the title “No Finish Line.” He says when we go to a movie or watch a ballgame or a track meet there is always a finish line or ending. Those events are finite.  The game of life is an infinite event. When I think of our lives there are no finish lines. Each day we have hope and faith to carry on. It is true that when we leave this earth we leave with a legacy. In fact, we want to have legs on that legacy.  As I think of Country Fellowship Church, I do not think of a Finish Line for us.  There is so much work to be done, needs that must be fulfilled and lives that need to be touched. I have watched Nick Saban change strategies at half-time and win the game in the second half. You might be here this morning and are thinking, I am in the 2nd half of my life. If you are a golfer, I am on the back nine. You might even say that you are in the 4th quarter.  I think we all want to FINISH Well. We don’t want to fizzle out, but we all want to reengage or reignite our energy for Jesus.  Remember our theme: Come Back to Your Roots!

Our Church is made up of the Silent Generation (79-91years old) and Baby Boomers (59-73) and a few of Generation X (44-58). I feel that in the future we will also need to reach out to Millennials (27-42) and Generation Z (11-26). Whatever age we all need each other.  The other night at our Outreach Meeting we felt that we need to really reach out to as many people as we can. Cindy is working on the mailing of a special designed card for our Easter Outreach. This card will be mailed out to a good number of homes in our community. More Americans attend Easter Sunday than any other Sunday of the year. As Dave Godwin said at our meeting, “Each one of us needs to bring one more on that Sunday.”  I want people to leave here saying, “Country Fellowship Church is where everyone is welcome; nobody is perfect, and anything is possible.” That is what I wrote when we started and I still believe in the theme of that message today.  We are all still alive and God is not finished with us. Thanks for attending Clara Lanham’s 100th Birthday.  She is a treasure and really appreciated the good number attending the Celebration.

Life is never ending…remember that.  Ok?  Pastor Charles
