Pastor Charles Comments about lessons that I have never forgot!

From my earliest years as a Child, I started learning about the “Love of God.” I would go to Sunday School as a Child and hear Bible Stories about the Love of God.  We would sing songs and choruses that told me about the “Love of God.”

From my earliest years as a Child, I started learning about “Sin.” I learned about the “Genealogy of Sin.” I learned that it came from my relative as well as your relative.  That relative was Adam.  Since Adam, Sin has spread like wildfire and continues to this very day.

From my earliest years as a child, I started to learn about Jesus.  I learned that He was born in Bethlehem.  I learned that He lived a sinless life yet died on the cross for my sin.  I also learned that He was resurrected and sits at the right hand of God forgiving my sins.  As a seven-year-old, I invited Jesus into my heart and life.  HE forgave my sins and became my Savior.  You would have to get out a calculator to count how many times through the years that I have sinned and disappointed my Savior Jesus.  Yet, He still loves me and forgives me of all my sins.

At 72 years of age, I keep going back to those simple truths that I learned as a child from my parents and in going to Sunday School.  I have never gotten over those simple beliefs.  We need to go back to the anchors of those simple truths.

A story that I have read and used in sermons was about the great German theologian of the 20th century.  According to the story, Karl Barth was fielding questions from the audience after a lecture in Rockefeller Chapel on the campus of the University Chicago in 1962.  A student stood and asked him if he could summarize his life’s work in theology in one sentence.  According to the story a gasp went up from the audience–responding to the student’s perceived audaciousness.  Also, according to the story, Barth didn’t skip a beat.  He said (paraphrasing) Yes, in the words of a song, I learned at my mother’s knee: “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”

God Loves Me…I have sinned…Jesus has saved me…Because I ask Him (Jesus) into my life.  That’s my story and I am sticking to it.  It is a story that I will never get over.

I need for volunteers (2 men and 4 ladies) to help twice a month at our “Loads of Love” ministry at P.J.’s Laundromat.  There will be training and if you are interested, please see me or David Greenwood.

Blessed to have Jesus in my heart!  Blessed to be Your Pastor & Friend!  Pastor Charles
