From Pastor Charles: It’s by the Spirit!
“Not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit, says the Lord Almighty-you will succeed because of my Spirit, though you are few and weak.” Zechariah 4:6; TLB
During the 1980s a new medical term found its way into the vocabularies of over-worked achievers: chronic fatigue syndrome. This disease has been cynically referred to as the Yuppie Plague because stress, overwork, and an erratic diet bring it on. Millions of people have suffered from this disease, which is not surprising since people are working harder and moving faster than ever before.
Many churches suffer from a similar disease of the spiritual kind. We try to see what we can do with all our gadgets and gimmicks and not what God can do through us. We forget that nothing will be lasting unless the Holy Spirit anoints it. Vance Havner put it his way: “Never has the church had more wire stretched with less power in it.”
A hymnist wrote these words:
“All is vain unless the Spirit of the Holy One comes down.”
It is sad to say that many times the church is like Samson, he did not realize that
the Spirit had left him. The church at Pergamos was the Church that was Too Weak to Stand Up for Jesus! God has a message for all of us as we look at this sermon series on the Need and Must of the Holy Spirit.
Listen up! Will you cover with me to pray and ask God to fill each one of us with His Holy Spirit? Prayer will always make up the difference. I need your prayers! Please keep the ministry of CFC in your daily prayers.
Thanks to Mike Wollard and the Culinary team. They have worked hard on our first churchwide luncheon in our new church. If you missed our Churchwide Outreach Meeting, then get a copy of what we went over last Monday Evening. Our theme has always been “Finish Your Life Well.”
Our Church Verse has always been, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6
Love You
Charles
