His name is WONDERFUL COUNSELOR!  Isaiah 9:6

WE NEED A COUNSELOR DURING THESE CHAOTIC TIMES! Israel also needed one. Isaiah said HE the Messiah would come, and HE will be the Wonderful Counselor.

When Isaiah prophesied this coming Messiah, Assyria was going to destroy Israel and threaten Judah. War clouds were brewing. In those chaotic times, the people were seeking counsel from everyone but God. In those times the people were turning to “mediums and evil spirits.” They were consulting “the dead on the behalf of the living.” Isaiah 8:19. They were ignorant of the “law and testimony,” the revealed word of God (8:20). They could only see “distress and darkness and gloom.” (8:22) They were walking in Darkness and living in the land of the shadow of death. (9:2) They felt the yoke that burdens them like a bar upon their shoulders, and a garment rolled in blood. (9:4-5) With all that said, Isaiah prophesied that God was sending a Wonderful Counselor.

In our times we need to embrace The Wonderful Counselor. As I told you last week, the business of the Fortune Tellers; Mediums; Psychic Readers has grown by 70% during this pandemic. Many People are just like the folks in Israel going after the worst and embracing evil. America’s increase in cults, drug addiction and suicide is a direct result of the lack of direction and spiritual purpose for their lives.

The bottom line is that people all around us are searching and seeking.  People are Shopping  for Wisdom. Peter was right when he said, ”Jesus, only you have the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68) Looking for wisdom means in Christ is all  the wisdom found. Let’s point them to Jesus, the Wonderful Counselor and the Prince of Peace, the Mighty God and the Everlasting Father. Seek people out and listen and share with them. Ask the questions and give them answers.

Merry Christmas!
